St John’s Church, Ashbourne is a unique Grade II* listed building. It is located midway along Buxton Hill in the market town of Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
The Church hosts Sunday services for both Anglican and Baptist congregations. Our church Hall also hosts Sunday services for the Ashbourne Christian Fellowship. Times and dates of our religious services are found in our ‘What’s On Section’.
Regular events in the church have included monthly film screening hosted by Ashbourne Community Cinema and monthly sessions of folk music performed by very talented local musicians.
The church also is a venue for concerts and speakers promoted by Ashbourne Arts during Ashbourne’s annual Arts Festival. Previous Festival speakers include Michael Portillo, Val McDermid and David Olusoga. The Festival takes place each year over two weeks spanning late June and early July
During warm spring and summer months the church provides rehearsal space for the splendid Ashbourne Singers. The Church is available for hire for funerals, weddings, and community events.
St john’s Community Hall is located to the rear of the church and is a venue with kitchen facilities that is well used by local community groups. It is available for hire at reasonable rates. Details of the activities and groups currently using the hall can be found in our ‘What’s On Section’.
St John’s is a ‘Church Peculiar’ owned and managed independently of the Church of England. The Church is a registered charity managed by a small group of Trustees who are local residents keen to conserve the building and to maximise its use by the local community.
The future of the Church relies on people like you, so please support us by using our facilities, becoming a regular donor or volunteering with us.
