Church Area for TOTS

To create a space for tots we have removed two pews located at rear of the church; this has created a small rectangular space similar to that in which the font is placed.The pews removed from the church are now located adjacent to the community hall and will be weather proofed when the weather allows.There are worshipers with toddlers in the Baptist community who will find the space allows them to worship whilst distracting or entertaining their toddlers.The space can also be used as a communal seated area where visitors can sit in small groups facing one another.We are pleased that we extend with this space a welcome to families with toddlers.A picture (below) of the space as it currently is populated

 

Love in a Bag Derbyshire

St John’s is supporting the “Love in a Bag Derbyshire” campaign by collecting toiletries to support homeless families and families that are victims of domestic violence and abuse. We have a box placed beneath the large table at the entrance to the church where church visitors and supporters are invited to donate toiletries.

The campaign’s advice is to “Find a bag you no longer use, fill it with toiletries and donate – simple! Or if you don’t have a bag, just use a carrier.

All donated items are distributed through Derbyshire charities for the homeless and for those escaping from abuse.
